DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – Aug. 2012 International Swingers’ Day, an event promoted by SLS (http://SwingLifestyle.com) was recently concluded. Held at the Caliente Caribe resort, an hour and half scenic drive from the Punta Plata Airport, the event drew about 150 people, mostly owners of lifestyle oriented travel agencies and swing clubs. Among clubs and companies represented were Joe & Shelly of Topless Travel, Zee & Gary of Dream Pleasure Tours, Angelita of WhyYouShouldTravel.com, Jaime & Debra of Rancho Paraiso, James & Champagne of Castaways Travel, AdultSocials.com, Swing Train, The Velvet Curtain, Doug & Barb of Erotic Adult Travel, Richard & Danielle of Hub City Select, and many others. Dr. Robert McGinley, President of The Lifestyles Organization and of NASCA International (http://www.nasca.com), gave the lead-in talk following an introduction by Brian Depenbrock, owner of SLS and promoter of the event, on the history of swinging, essentially a review of people, clubs and events from the 1960s to late 1980s that have shaped the lifestyle community of today. A total surprise to Dr. Robert, Brian presented him with a Lifestyle Achievement Award. There were three days of talks, all well received. SLS’s manager, the very capable Mari, arranged for impressive entertainment by local dancers as the concluding event on Saturday night. Michel Gaucher, owner of Taheima/Fantasy Resort & Spa, arrived for an overnight stay to further talk with travel agency owners about his resort. Steven Dorsey, CEO of Caliente Club & Resorts, attended to see that all went well. Though not a large event, it none-the-less attracted important leaders in the lifestyle community for considerable social interaction. SLS’ next event, sure to be a success, is the August 7-11 Vegas Exchange 2013 at the Palms Hotel & Casino.
